Joe Cotchett and Nanci Nishimura of Cotchett, Pitre, & McCarthy, LLP prominent lawyers and Half Moon Bay property owners are waiving two months rent for their tenants. Their generosity will help the local businesses during their long road to recovery. “We think it’s the right thing to do to give back to this community,” Cotchett said. During this crisis landlords have the ability to have a positive impact when tenants need it the most. “The crisis is devastating small stores up and down the coast and along our Main Street. They’re all getting hammered and landlords have to step up to the plate and share the loss.” Cotchett and Nishimura’s magnanimous actions remind us that solidarity and mutual support is the only way to get through this difficult time. This is just the beginning. They anticipate extending the rent waiver if the shelter in place order continues. Cotchett and Nishimura are also helping residential renters, and have been providing legal assistance to some of their tenants.
